FirenzeFiera is the recently created company that manages the
three main congress and exhibition
facilities in Florence: Fortezza da Basso, Palazzo dei Congressi
and Palazzo degli Affari.
These venues are all within walking distance of each other and
are surrounded by ample
green areas. Each one is a highly original and striking exhibition
and congress venue.
The Fortezza da Basso is a 16th century Medici fortress. The
original buildings have been perfectly remodeled into congress
rooms and
exhibition space (Sala della Ronda, Sala della Scherma, etc.).
In addition there are new buildings within the fortress walls
(Cavaniglia Pavilion, Spadolini Pavilion, etc.).
The Palazzo dei Congressi is a renessaince style villa with
outstanding period furnishings, that also has a modern, 1,000
seat auditorium. And finally, there is the Palazzo degli Affari,
built by the architect Pierluigi Spadolini in 1974.
